Hi all. I need to get some tyres for a track car, but they need to be road-legal, and have a minimum treadwear rating of 140. They will not see any road use, but I want to get something as close as possible to the performance of a genuine semi-slick.
I've heard good reviews of both the Achilles 123s and the Kumho KU36. Any racers on here had any experience of either of these tyres on the track? Or, any other recommendations would be welcome.
Oh yeah, and it's for a fwd car weighing about 800kg with 75bhp at the wheels.
Cheers
Sheldon
Sheldon ,
Not sure on the car or tyre sizes you are after , but a lot of the MX 5 sprinters have been using these.

I think Rob Dale has also put these on his Alfetta GTV sprint/ club car
Thanks Paul. Unfortunately those have a treadwear rating of 100, so no good for my needs. I've heard good things about those tyres though, and they're a good price.
Should have mentioned it before, but the size I'm after is 195/50R15, but could possibly go to a 205/45. Can't tell you what type of car, as it's not an Alfa, but it's the same one I took to Winton a few weeks ago. It's like a 1990s Japanese-made Alfasud.
Paul, they look pretty cheap and I've read good things too.
Gonna keep an eye on this thread as I'll be looking for similar rubber for the gtv soon.
Have read a bit on:
Toyo R1 (seem to wear too quick?)
Yokohama Ad08 - (expensive)
Hankook Rs3 - (not sure they come in size I need)
Correct me if I'm wrong :)
