Title: Alfasud Ti Qv dash mat
Post by: herbyj on September 15, 2014, 12:34:32 PM
Hi
I'll have my Alfasud soon.
It's dash is in very good condition and I'd like to keep it that way.
Does anyone know where to get a dash mat, either off the shelf or custom made?

Even better than a dashmat, would be a sunshade to keep the rays off the dash, seats, instruments and carpets, a bloke in Tasmania makes them up to suit particular cars, so they fit perfect, i have a custom made one for the 33 and 156, he might even have one for a SUD, he is westsunshades , Colin.

Thanks Colin for that info, I'll contact them and find out if they can make a sun shade.

Given the dash is almost perfect but I will be garaging the car and using a sun shade do you thing a dash mat is necessary?

I think they look a bit unsightly so wouldn't mind avoiding using one.

What do you think?

A dashmat will slow down the damage caused by the sun, but they look like something out of your grandfathers Falcan, a sunshade will limit the sun's damage to the seats and carpet and instruments, westsunshades had one in stock for a 156 and made one for my 33 after he measured one up, Colin.

Yes I agree, a Alfa Romeo is there to be enjoyed, use a sun shade when parking or sitting for protection,  but enjoy the Sud as is when driving, that is what Alfa Romeo is all about  :)

You cannot believe the damage the sun does to instrument assemblys, such as on the 33, where the speedos and tachos go wrong, you get a second hand assembly and the top off the housing is all warped and the speedo and tacho instrument faces are all faded as compared to one that has been in a box for 15 years, a good one has red markings and the sun damaged one is a very light orange, Colin.
