Title: Steel mesh lifetime air filter
Post by: Dario on August 23, 2014, 09:39:09 AM
Hi

I have a lifetime air filter in my 1965 AR 2600 Sprint.  Anyone know the maintenance procedure or know of replacements if required.

They do a pretty good job of keeping the rocks out, but i'd be inclined to put it on the shelf as a curiosity and fit a conventional paper element filter if you want the engine to last more than about 20,000km.

Was there an oil bath ("tropical") filter as an option on the 2600s?

It's been in there for 54000 miles so may need a change.  Don't know of any options or what can now replace it though.
