Title: re Newbie to Alfa Club
Post by: tonybel on June 30, 2014, 03:30:01 PM
Hi everyone,
my name is Tony Belmonte from Orange NSW, I recently purchased a one owner Alfa 156 V6 , 6speed from a old lady around these parts whos husband died.

This is my 6th alfa now, first one being a alfasud back in the 90s, then a sprint, a GTV , two 75s. This alfa is by the the Holy Grail in the Pack. Was chasing a GTA, but too good to past up.

Have spent a little money tidying the car up, but really didnt need much. New cross drilled Rotors/pads, a nice stereo and some paint modifications.

Like to hear from anyone else who owns a similar model , and their opinions on the car.
cheers
from Tony

Fantastic car I've driven one and think the 2.5 is a dark horse of the series if you want to spoil yourself put a q2 diff in...Awsesome!

Welcome Tony,

All I can say is brilliant choice. I too own a 2.5 V6 6sp (series 1). Every time I put my foot down the Busso growl makes me grin like an idiot. Best car I've ever owned. And I still can't believe I only paid $7k for it two years ago, with just under 120k on the clock.

Handles beautifully for a FWD car (lowered suspension sure helps), and has enough grunt to give the occasional Falcodorist a shock off the line every now and then. Personally I think the Series 1 is the purest and best looking too, and not as "deliberately" pretty as the facelift!

Yes, I have gotten to know my local Alfa specialist pretty well, but really only through making sure I keep strictly to the maintenance schedule, with the occasional ad-hoc visit in between.

If I could find one (and could justify it to the missus) I would dearly love to get a GTA version as well...
