I'm struggling to find a power steering pump to suit my 147GTA. I believe the pump is unique for the GTA but stand to be corrected. Can anyone can help with sourcing a 2nd hand pump?
Try Monza Motors in Bayswater, also there is a wrecker on ebay that has a few 147 and 156 GTA's, you could try taking the pump to a power steering place and have it rebuilt, there is not much to a power steering pump, vanes, bearings and oil seal, there are a few new power steering pumps on ebay for 147's and 156's, contact them and see if they do a pump for a GTA, Colin.
Thanks Colin. My mechanic did the ring around but had no luck. A rebuild is around the $400 Mark :-\ will Monza just incase they were missed in the ring around.
Some people say not to rebuild power steering pumps, if i had to do the one in my JTS, i could buy a new one for $200-$300, so it wouldn't be worth doing and also there is a lot of work in pulling one out and putting it back in, so you would want a new one.
However if the GTA pump is a bit harder and more expensive, then a reconditioned pump may be the way to go, if the pump ran out of oil, then the vanes may have gauged the pump housing and it will be cactus, if the pump still had oil and has got noisy, then its only a new bearing or if its leaking, then its a new seal, you might be able to contact the pump agent to see if there is a rebuild kit, Colin.
