Title: 147 ts, motor control system failure ????
Post by: sam147 on March 04, 2014, 07:30:30 PM
Hi I have the 'motor control system failure' light showing and my car isn't running smooth.

I have looked through the forum but i think my issue may be a new one. I drive a 147 ts 1.6.

my engine is making a popping sound, its not a good sound. My guess is all of a sudden too much or not enough fuel is getting to the plugs?

if it helps i was driving in the rain.

thanks guys

I had a coil pack go on my GTA, it acted in a similar fashion.

I'd be checking the spark plugs.

You drive a 147 2 litre twin spark right?, not a 147 twin spark 1.6, as they didn't come to Australia.
As Brad says, it sounds like a coil pack, before you start swapping bits back and forth, tow or trailer it to an Alfa Romeo service provider, drive it there and you may cause damage to engine, such as unburnt petrol going down the tailpipe and into the engine sump, which may result in an explosion, when the raw petrol finds some ignition, Colin.
