Post by: johnny_mercs on January 24, 2014, 10:14:19 PM
Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and world of alfas.

Looking to buy a Alfetta Gtv 2000. Can anyone tell me what to look out for, and roughly what they are worth?

Rust in hatch.

Rust in a pillars.

Later plastic bumper cars I'm sure had better rust proofing, but I'm still in lust with the early ones (actually with GTs).

Don't be put off by worn synchros/crunchy gear change, sloppy gear linkage, clunks from the drivetrain - not that you won't have to fix some of these (first one easier to just learn to rev match) but they are just maintenance items, not a disaster...

Do be put off by any hint that the car has had less than regular fluid changes. Bottom end is very strong if looked after. Head and studs and liner to block sealing and... dependent on coolant changes, inhibitor etc.

Worth what the condition makes them worth (which is always less than getting a worse one to the same condition).
