Title: Trofeo Alfasud
Post by: trofeoalfasud on November 22, 2013, 08:24:39 PM
Hi All,

I run the Trofeo Alfasud Register in Italy (I'm English but live in Italy) and while looking around the internet I noticed in your forum that there was talk of a Trophy series in Australia in the early 1980's. I would be very interested in any information that anyone can give me about the series and any photos, video, etc that you may have would be of great interest too.

I am researching the race series for a book that I am writing dedicated to the Trofeo.

I would like to get in contact with anyone who raced in the Trophy or prepared cars for it so as to collate their memories and experiences.

Any help much appreciated about this fabulous little car!
Please write and send material to: trofeoalfasud@gmail.com

Regards, Lincoln

Hi Lincoln

It wasn't a Trofea series as such, it was known locally as the Sud Series and the cars were much more standard than the Trofea series run in Italy. Essentially they were standard 1.5 Sud Ti's with a cage, a suspension kit and a seat.

If you flicked a note off to Joe Beninca (http://www.beninca.com.au/) he should be able to give you plenty of info. He prepared and ran cars in the series.

On a different path altogether - Ray Gulson ran a Sud with the Trofeo kit at Bathurst in 1980.

Here's an earlier thread about it: http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=677.0

Attached photo.  If that's of interest (Bathurst is a BIG DEAL over here in case it's not obvious) then I'm sure you could find out more info.
