Title: Howdy
Post by: Coffee76 on October 21, 2013, 03:46:52 PM
This is my first foray in to the Alfa forums so I thought I would say a G'day.

I have just brought a 2007 147 Diesel as my first Alfa, I brought it to replace my old Magna bless her soul she reached 500,000 ks and is still going strong ! I just got sick of driving her every day from Bowral to Sydney. My wife had a 1980's 2 litre GTV, red of course for years before we traded it for a 4WD, it is still one of the best sounding cars I have ever driven, beautiful note from the exhaust.

Our other cars are a Hyundai 4WD and 1992 911, (weekends only)

Look forward to catching all on the forums, by the way I am in to Xbox gaming and my gamer tag is coffee76, of course when I play driving games I only pick Alfa !

Hi and welcome to the forum! Glad the bug has bitten strong.  Don't worry I'm sure you'll be able to rid yourself of the 911 :-P

Welcome to forum Coffee76, good to see a diesel oiler 147, just that bit different and longer cam belt changes too, only give it the premium stuff as it will rattle less, leave the normal stuff to four wheel drives, good thing is to join the Victorian Alfa Club and come along to our events. Spectacolo in November, which gives you plenty of polishing time and a Sunday run to Maldon for lunch at the Kangaroo Hotel, join some like minded Alfa Romeo drivers for a run through some great country roads, we also have technical events, with some great ones planned for 2014, Colin.

Hi there Coffee76.

Colin has some wise words about the use of premium diesel.  It makes the car run so much better.

Also, perhaps you could visit us at the Spettacolo weekend as there will be a group of interstate visitors down for dinner and the show.

Cheers

Thanks guys for the warm welcomes, sadly my new love is spending some time off the road until I sort out a minor issue with low down revs, research tells me it could be the manifold air pressure sensor. It is hard to get the revs up and when I take off the car has no power until it hits above 2000 revs then it is ok. On the highway it runs sweet, so I will be working out where this sensor is first then hopefully it is just clogged and a good clean to fix it.

if not then it is off to an Alfa dealer to check it out.

Evan it may mean I 'll have to get the 911 out of the garage mate ! :)

Col thanks for the advice will make sure it only drinks the good stuff, anyway work pays for my fuel so good to go !

Cheers
