Title: First Alfa - any tips, info I should be aware of ?
Post by: ausdilecce on October 13, 2013, 06:58:20 PM
Hi all,

I just aquired a 1970 GTV in what I think is rather good nick.  Is there anything I should know ?

I am loving the car and don't wanna kill my high by doing something silly because of ignorance.

Thank you all in advance

If you have not already done so, get your new toy thoroughly checked out by an Alfa specialist, i.e. Maranello Pursang in Brunswick 9386 9350, Alfpa repairs in Bayswater 9729 9946 who are very familiar with 105 Series cars. Join the Club and talk to other owners of the same model. Huge amount of technical knowledge available through the Club. Spettacolo, at Wesley College St Kilda road Melbourne in November is a must attend event to compare cars

And don't be afraid to give it occasionally an Italian tuneup, within legal speed limits of course, to preserve your licence while being socially aware of course.

Apart from that, treat it with love and respect, keep the servicing up and basically look after it like one should with any classic car.  Be wary of carparks etc !!

Any questions, get on the forums, plenty of knowledge out there and come along and join your local chapter of the Alfa Club, they all love 105's and rightly so, Colin.

Before I go for that tune up, given the age of the car,  I would be looking into any history that the car has had a brake system overhaul lately including all hydraulic hoses.

If it hasn't had one, I would suggest to make that your first priority.
