Title: Steering wheel removal
Post by: renegadealfa on October 07, 2013, 10:11:37 PM
Hello,  about to remove mu 105 series 1 steering wheel,  does the center plastic cap just pop off? I am aware of the  locking hex nut under that cap.

Regards

Yes, the cap has a spring wire clip. After releasing the large nut inside (beware the horn wire) you need the right puller though, don't use a conventional puller - the wheel has no-where for it to grip. The 105 puller has two M5 (I think, or M6) screws to screw into threaded holes that are revealed in the boss under the plastic cap, and a centre screw that pushes the shaft away, all threaded into a 12cm-ish bar. You'll see how it works when you pull the cap off, or google for it.
