Heys guys im about to get my cambelt done next week, the car has been fitted with a mechanical tensioner, should i get a new one fitted whilst im doing the cam belt? I know this might sound like a silly question to some but i was told that the mechanical tensioners are very reliable and should not have to be done often.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks guys, regards stefan.
Gday Stefan,
I'm assuming by the way you've written your post that you are having your mechanic do the work.
Nobody here will be able to tell you if your tensioner bearing is worn or needs replacing, as we are not able to inspect the part in question.
Your mechanic is the person who can answer this for you, when they actually inspect the bearing as I'm sure they will do.
Cheers.

Thanks heaps mick, yeah getting the boys at maranello pursang to do the work so I'm sure they will do a fantastic job on the car, cannot wait til its done, then it's off to the great ocean road!
Cheers stefan
No worries mate.
Yep Bruno will do a great job for you I would guarantee that. Glad you are taking the car to a specialist for the work. :)
Enjoy your car mate, and the great ocean road!
And when touring along the great ocean road don't travel too close to the car in front and clobber a pot hole and damage your front suspension, it is really a bit rough at the moment, it was an election issue at the recent Federal Election, new member Sarah Henderson said if elected, would fix the road, when they do, the Alfa Club should have a run down there, very early though, to avoid the tourists in their Corolla's, Colin.
Im hoping they do fix it soon, such a beautiful road to travel on!
Most frustrating thing when your stuck behind a corolla:@ thats happened to me countless times whilst driving my gtv and 164Q, hopefully the same doesn't happen in my gtv6!!!
Stefan
Oh mick only the best for my car haha! Can't wait for it!
