Was in the garage having a muck around (105 stuff whoo hoo)
and grabbed a beer from the fridge. Couldn't find my trusty bottle opener
was starting to get concerned, so looking at my old 1600 Junior engine sitting on
the floor thought mmmmm this might do the trick. Placed the Asahi bottle on the straight
section at the back of the cam cover joining the cam housings and bang! Crisis
was averted. Had another beer and used the 2litre engine sitting next to it for good luck!
So there you go but only works on Nord engines and it helps if the engine is out of the car.
Sorry TS guys can't help ya but would love to try it.
You gotta love the Nord with its big dose of Volumetric efficiency from its
Hemi combustion chambers but poorish Thermal efficiency. What a great engine
and even opens a beer for you. Better that that VVTI rubbish from Toyota.
So there's your tip albeit in a long winded waffleish sort of way
Cheers and Saluti

Mille grazie zio Pep, at long last I now know what to do with my long dead and un-rebuildable 1750 GTV engine. Great it needs to be cleaned up and it can go to the pool room (well ok shed) and serve an ongoing useful purpose.
Only one question, what is with the Asahi, surely in the Italiano spirit it should at least have been a Peroni ?? heh heh ;D
You have a beer fridge in your garage? I bow before your superior man-cave :)
Probably shouldn't say this, but I know beers will flip open from a variety of Alfa seat belt buckles...
Thanks Uncle Pep,
now perhaps i can finally find a use for Triumph Stag engine in bits in the garage - off to find a beer.
Darren
Triumph Stag engines were usually always in bits, whether under the bonnet of a Stag, in the garage or warranty work at the Triumph dealer, apart from chronic overheating, blown head gaskets or timing chain failure take your pick, Colin.
Most twin-claw style door latches double as bottle openers, though it's probably best to pull over before opening the door, and the bottle....................
