Title: indicator lights not working
Post by: gtv6sv on August 28, 2013, 10:43:44 PM
Hey guys just bought an 85 GTV6 :-D absolutely love it!

But one issue my indicator lights are not working, they were working this morning but stopped this afternoon, even the light that flashes on your dash when you have your indicator on doesnt go on either. Ive checked the fuses and they seem to be in good order. Does anyone know what the problem and how to fix it?

Regards stefan

Hi Stefan,

A visual check isn't sufficient with the old fuses, you need to check for 12v power on either side using a test light or multimeter.

It is most likely the flasher can at fault. You need to check it has power supply.

if it doesn't,, then you need to trace back to it's supposed source to work out why it doesn't have 12v.

Failing all of the above, take it to an auto electrician if you don't know what you are doing.

May save you money!

cheers! Mick.

Stefan,

Congrats on the GTV6. Of course you love it  ;).

Earth's can be a problem.

Switch on the steering column does age - careful cleaning that, the are expensive to get replacements these days.

recent post (and lots others):

Do you have a circuit diagram from the owners manual?

You'll get quiet familiar with your electrics, but they are pretty simple & mostly there's a permanent fix.

American site has a good electrical resource too.
