Title: Thanks for a great day at Broadford
Post by: aggie57 on June 17, 2013, 07:55:24 AM
Thanks to Neil, David, Ross, Bruno, and all the others who ran the day so well at Broadford yesterday.  Apart from the one nasty incident late morning it was great fun and a really interesting track.

No worries.

The incident happened on my watch as David just went on a break a few minutes before.

Luckily, I was watching that particularly section of the track, never called red flag so many times, scrambled ambulance and recovery so quick.  Never seen Bruno run so fast.

Happy to hand CoC back to David who was still wondering what the hell was going on as he just stepped back in.

Bob Anderson was very helpful and praised us on how we handled all the situations along with the numerous driver call ups and the discussion (read arguments).

Thanks to Neil, Bruno, Stephen, Sheldon (who was one of the first on the scene and steered Sud back to pits) and the St John's crew for the rapid response and care taken... and for everyone else who lent moral support. There will be a special tyre-glue dispenser in the back of the reincarnated SUD000 to compensate for driver error.

I sure hope that a roll cage is high up on that list too! I know its the next thing that's happening to my car!

Thanks for the awesome day everyone  - had an absolute blast !

I think roll cages moved up a few to-do lists on Sunday .....

I thought Dave Moore did a pretty courteous job of piloting the 323 as well.

Bad Luck John - watching the video things happened very quickly.  Glad you are OK and keen to get back on the track.

Yeh. I have the quotes for cage and was about to book it in, in time for Philip Island. My Hans device arrived in the mail yesterday (the day after). I'm very lucky.

interesting Natsoft results

http://racing.natsoft.com.au/636034698/object_32568048.89Z/Result?10

If they are to be believed we might of seen the last time that Evan Bottcher is  ever going to let Sheldon Mc Intosh drive the Sud . Apparently Sheldon is 5 seconds faster . Not a bad return to form after a bit of a spell in the paddock ????.

Lets get back to Dorians at Philip Island

Yeah, that's definitely a mistake.  They also had Evan down as doing 1:09 at one stage, but that didn't make it to the final results, I don't know why my 1:10 made the cut.  There are quite a few people that got some fake times like that, from what I can see.  I got to a 1:14, but people I was passing, or just behind, have 11s, 9s etc.

Makes me wonder how many other 'strange' times got bandied around before we had dorians.  I still hear talk of people doing 2:00 at Phillip Island in standard GTV6s on road tyres.....

But don't worry, even with a 14 I get the feeling I won't be driving that particular Sud again....   :( :(    I'll just have to get my own I suppose.

"Lock it in Eddie"  :P :P :P

In 10 years time you will be able to look at it and say its in print on the internet , It must be correct

Thanks alot guys for a great day, first day with your club, I found the event was really well run.

Not so sure on the validity of the results using the button-press methods but the day was still loads of fun nevertheless, and still achieved a good result (Car 35).

Im not sure why, but I feel I need to apologise for the actions of a select few dickhead Nissan owners...theres always some in every bunch that are just plain disrespectful.

Hoping at least myself and Johnny would be welcomed back to future events as entrants there to race, not intentionally over drive or drift.

Cheers,
Mat.

Thanks to all the organisers & officials for an awesome day. Broadford is a great little track that i found very challenging & enjoyable as a newbie in a bog stock 75 TS. Great facilities and cafe help too.
A pending new arrival (baby, not automotive) & some required renovations means i'll have to take a few months break from the fun of the track, but i'll be all the keener when i can get back to it.

Cheers
Darren

On behalf of AROCA, I would like to sincerely thank all the club members and volunteers who ran the event.

David Floyd, Bob Anderson, Ross Flood, Bruno Colautti, Alan Hopla, Paul Bischel, Richard East, Pam Phillips, Phil Aarons, Paul Gulliver, Joe Falcone's friend (whose name I have just forgotten, Ang?), Dean Swindells, Paul Murphy Snr, MMT flag marshals and all the scrutineers from AROCA and MX5.  Of course there will be others who I have forgotten.

Two special mentions, welcome back into the fold David Floyd (AROCA life member and senior secretary and race control at many Historic Race meetings) who had gone AWOL from AROCA for a little while.  Interestingly, there were 3 other life members at work, along with 4 committee members.  And Bob Anderson (senior CAMS steward at various GP's).

Regards
Neil Choi
