So I scored a 91" series 3, 33 cheap but need to do some paint repairs and fix a few small dings but I can't find the paint code on the car, does anyone know what it is for a RED 91 model.
I've read it could be inside the rear hatch or inside the car on the wheel arch area but I can't find it and it's not on the bonnet. I've done a internet search and there's 3 Alfa reds for 91".
Has anyone done a touchup on there red 91 model 33 and know the paint code?
I'd suggest going to a good auto paint supplier and they can visually match the paint and mix a can of paint for you. Here in Melbourne I use a company called Paintmobile. Colours fade over time anyway so I'm told you may get a better match this way than getting it mixed to the original code?
The paint codes on my 33 is a sticker on the underside of the bonnet, thats a good starting point, so that they know the basic color, but as Evan states, go to a Panel Beating supply shop, and get them to mix up the paint to suit, as the paint fades and it may have had a panel resprayed at one time, I have been to a few places and the results have been terrible to great, i go to [like Evan], Paintmobile in Preston, Victoria, the tall dark haired bloke is an absolute wizz at matching colors, looks good with even my appalling spray painting, Colin.
I will have to take a part off the car so they can work from that because it's not running, bent valve ;D I have another engine reserved for it, I'm just not ready to do the job yet. I only want to spray the side mirrors side skirts rear spoiler and front bumper the rest of the car I cut & polished it, came up fantastic.
I bought the car for only $250, with some work from me it's going to be good looking everyday driver.
Update! Update! Found the code under the bonnet, Rosso Alfa 130 :)
It seems that's a common colour code right through to current models but I found by researching on the net people are getting mixed results using it so I'll get them to match the colour.
So I took the rear spoiler into Protec paints "I've used them before and believe it's the best brand" and asked for Rosso Alfa 130, they insisted it would be right straight from the tin. I insisted it wouldn't so we did a sample against the underside of the spoiler and it was totally different ::) So there matching it up perfectly for me. Never just go by the code ;)
Make sure what the match is made to, paintwork on the top parts on the car and not underneath, where the sun hasn't faded it, the place i go at Preston Paintmobile, mixes the paint up and puts it on a piece of wood and puts it against the panel he is matching, he tells me that red is hard to match, sometimes the paint on one side of the car can be faded more than the otherside, due to the car being parked at the same spot everyday, and one side getting the mild morning sun and the other side copping the blazing afternoon sun, Colin.
Well the underside of the spoiler was the best original paint on the car when I got it, the rest had faded to a matt pink. I just spent the last week disassembling the car, cutting and polishing and the finish on the bodywork came up amazing the same as the spoiler underside.
Since the cars not running yet "picked up the replacement engine today" the spoiler was the best I had to take in. The cars total including car, engine & paint is now $667 ;D Everything else to make it possible & come together I already had on hand.
