I might not have understood the information I heard, is it true that Alfa GT's made after a certain date were factory equipped with Q2 diffs? If so, how do you tell?
Thanks in advance
Zippy
Only 1.9 litre diesels. And they didn't come to Australia.
Most 3.2 owners retrofit, and you reduce your risk of breakage and get a better drive as well.
Thanks
Torben
Thanks mate, any ideas how much a q2 diff costs to buy and how much roughly to fit? I'm in brisbane
If you buy it as a complete kit it is $xxx, but if you buy the diff assembly on its own and the rest on its own and have 2 invoices and that avoids some kind of G.S.T. tax or something, there have been posts on this before and i think all the details were there, the diff can be fitted with the gearbox still in the car, the side plates are removed, which is better than them being smashed out by a broken differential assembly, Colin.

You're looking for this. Otherwise kit is also available here:

There's a lot of info about fitting it in this thread:

You might be able to convince Torben to sell you the one out of his GTA, if indeed they are the same.

You may indeed...

D'oh!! missed Torben's diff, ah well. If I buy one in from EB Spares, what other parts do i need to order? and who would be the most reasonably priced shop in Brisbane to get it done at? I came to the Alfa from a soob wrx and I have to say (the obvious) that it is a totally different driving sensation going from 4wd to fwd, I'm a little worried about lunching the diff if they are as frail as I hear people say they are
Consider the Quaiffe instead of the Q2. Arguably stronger and more effective, though on a street car you shouldn't notice any difference.

Autolusso are highly reputable, so no issues there. That kit is sub-A$1K, so you won't be stung with import duties. Autolusso used to use the Q2, but now say the Quaiffe is better value.
You basically need the diff, new bearings, and seals.
But, you can buy the Q2/parts from EB Spares or Alfaworkshop, both in the UK and great to deal with.

:)
Automotion and John French Motors have plenty of experience with these, either should be happy installing he kit provided by you.
Cheers
Rory
Mine is actually "unsold" as the buyer had a breakdown which led to his requiring it more quickly than I could provide it. It is still 1-2 weeks away from coming out of the car.
I currently have a buyer lined up, but until the deal is done....it ain't sold.
So, let me know if you would like to take an interest.
Thanks
Torben
to be honest, I'll have to budget to buy and fit, so I'm a couple more weeks than that away from being able to afford it, but as a matter of interest, how much you got on it?
