Great photos Marisa.

I guess I'll kick off the video proceedings then! This is my fastest lap for the day.

Not enough track time but still a very good day, and due to the new surface and having some slicks that aren't showing canvas... I managed to cough up a new PB of 1.53.4.

1.7 seconds quicker than previously. VERY happy with this! :)

I have some fantastic footage of Andrew Barden in his beautiful Red GTV6, and we get to see lots of the sides of Andrews car. :)

I'll post these during the week, as they are longer videos but very entertaining.

Cheers and thanks to all the officials for another great day at The Island.

-Mick

Were you wearing your pink tutu?

Lucky you didn't throw in a twist with it.

Big thanks to Neil for ordering the right weather for Saturday.

I had my 'quiet' exhaust on unfortunately it wasn't quiet enough so I only had a couple sessions in. It must be on the borderline as first session the noise was OK.

Anyway here's a quick vid of a couple of sub 2 laps.

Not my best laps, but had great fun in the last session dicing with John Cumming in his Sud, and with the Toyota 86. Great fun, and everyone did a good job of leaving room.

Nice, smooth lap. How on earth could you see coming over Lukey without sunglasses?!?

Miles off the blistering pace of the vids above, and taking some fairly scenic lines,  here's my third instruction session with Steve offering much needed and hugely appreciated advice and encouragement.   Stopped for a quick coffee at Honda @ 11:55...

Thanks to Evan for the loan of the RadCam... great bit of kit !

So how did the new track feel guys?  Looked absolutely spectacular when I did my track inspection. Shame I was doing all of 50k's!

The unsettling bump at MG is gone, which is very nice. Generally very smooth. I noticed it especially at MG and Siberia, and to a lesser extent in T2 and over Lukey Heights - the car used to dance a little more on small ripples

Not from PI but acting as chase cam at Winton and again keeping SAFE distance from the silver GTV.

I think I showed I cared at about 0:50.

Just awesome Steve, sideways at 180km/h!

I wouldn't say 180kph, you believe an Alfetta speedo???

150-160kph perhaps.

But interesting BRAVERY no less.

I don't believe the speedo, I do believe the gps I had in the car though
Title: Re: Phillip Island Sprint 20-4-13
Post by: Neil Choi on April 26, 2013, 02:12:34 PM
So what did the GPS got it as, 180kph.  Good-O.

My speedo used to keep telling me I am doing 210kph down the straight, not from a standard 2L.

Oh, with help from Evan and some time wasting I should be able to put the two vid's into one, side by side or PiP.

Should be fun once I get it done.

Don't worry, Joe is tough and is coming back, he is entered for Sandown.

You're not the only one Joe. Three cars off the track at Lukey, three wide coming on to the straight. The track was definitely quicker particularly on the faster corners and it showed.

It was great to see you were OK and smiling as you left the circuit.

Some good fun with Mr. Barden, the proud owner of the widest GTV6 in Victoria. Both cars running on "R" tyres.

Mick was your fastest time on slicks or the r specs?

Here you go, same vid of two GTV's but with PiP.

Updated vid, this one is better sync'ed and a little better edit.

Hey Ray! Fastest time was on the slicks mate. I think last time we were there, when i went faster on r's, I just wasn't using them to their full potential and went faster on the r's because they were more familiar. This time though I'm more used to the slicks and how much more grip is actually available.

Thanks to all concerned although it was only panel damage and ive managed to push it all out. Mite have to replace the guard, just looks too ratty but doors and quarter should pass scrutineering easy. Cant wait for Sandown. See you all there.

A lot of time wasting as there was no racing this weekend and nothing to fix!!!

Here is a side by side vision with map, time and speed.  Not doubt it is getting a bit monotonous with same vision.
