Hey troops, putting the call out there for any suggestions or assistance. My track buddy and I have landed ourselves an Alfa 75 as our basis for entry in some track competition.
As with almost everything Alfa, its down in bloody Victoria so before my buddy flys down to see if he can drive it back, I was hoping we could get some pointers or assistance in getting the car up to Sydney, if anyone can help? Maybe someone in Melbs was coming up this way? Dont blow your hard earned cash on a cheap flight, spend half a day travelling in motoring history. In fact 75 years of AR history in an Alfa 75 V6, all expenses paid??? Or suggestions on car shipping, I have a vague recollection of a recent post on the subject so I'll see what it produced, but bring it up here again rather than bump that other on. Anyhow, need to catch up on the posts counter for the trophy at the end of the year =)
I recently did the road trip from Melbourne to Sydney with the other half, having come over the previous night from Tassie. We stopped along the way for coffee breaks, lunch and stayed in the little historic village of Jugoing, reasonably close to Yass. Can recommend stopping here if you need. The Long Table cafe is foody heaven. I enjoyed the drive.
Next day ended up driving through for a quick lunch break in Goulbourn and on to Sydney. Can't say that I enjoyed the drive into Sydney but then again I was navigating off the iphone GPS which while it worked was a little tricky. It was also really our first attempt at driving into Sydney, so was not really sure where we were going.
My vote still though would be for the road trip. This time (Saturday morning) I am flying up from Hobart, to catch up with the missus who is working up there for a year.
no missus for a year!!! I keep telling mine that it amkes for longevity in our marriage, then a duck real quick ::)
'fraid had no choice on this, she graduated recently in nursing, Sydney really was the only proper offer on the table, Royal North Shore. Mate I too would duck for cover otherwise on such a suggestion !! ;D
All the best on getting the 75 up to Sydney and onto the track !
Just got our new car (boring old MY07 Liberty 3.0 Spec B wagon) transported from Bris to melb by Patrick Autocare quoted 7 working days, arrived in 2! Havent collected yet, weekend in melbs coming up, but it was bloody cheap c. $460.
Might help if you're not too fussy about transport.
scott.
Hi There.
I used Autologistics about 3 years ago to get the Alfetta I purchased down from Darwin to Melbourne. Paid about 650 at the time and the car got to Melbourne in 4 days.
At the time they provided the best quote and I picked up the car from Altona depot which happened to be Patricks autocare.
they also provided a door to door service instead of depot to depot for a small additional amount.
Good Luck.
Thanks guys. $4-500 seems to be the going rate at the moment. Not fussed on how long it takes. My track buddy is heading down anyhow so hopefully it may make on its own steam, otherwise it's on the back of a truck.
