Title: Reconditioning Starter Motor - Lubrication Question
Post by: Farnarkel on March 21, 2013, 04:46:39 PM
Hi Guys
I have just pulled down and reconditioned my Alfetta Bosch starter motor . The original problem was a sticking solenoid (gunked up!!) but needed a bit more work.

I have thoroughly cleaned the whole starter motor replaced brushes and bearings and machined the commutator.

My question is what type of lubricants to use on the spline, bearings, solenoid etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would use graphite powder on anything that is exposed to dust e.g. splined shaft and throwout  mechanism
