Title: Headlight indicator lamp problem
Post by: poohbah on March 17, 2013, 07:25:02 PM
Hi all,

Qucik query - any ideas why the headlights-on indicator lamp in my Series 1 156 V6 would come on with all other lights when you turn on the ignition, but won't come on when I actually turn on the headlights (which are working fine!)?

And can I repair it without opening up the dash, or doing major electrical work? If not, I will wait til others go on the blink and there is enough critical mass to spend the money ...

Cheers Poohbah

It looks like when you switch on the ignition and it goes thru its check to see the globes are all working the headlight globe is working, when you switch on the headlights, the globes doesn't shine, sounds like a circuit from the headlight is broken or dirty, unless its worrying you, i would leave it alone until you have to remove the instruments or replace a globe, then fix it all in the one hit, Colin.

Thanks Col. I will leave it til I have more reason to remove the instruments etc.

Wait until your battery starts going flat for no reason, then replace the rev counter that is most likely draining the battery due to a short circuit in the rev counter, Colin.
