Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motor Sport

The Shannons Walk

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2013.

The Club has again been invited to participate in the in the 2013 'Shannons Walk'.  The event is held similar in concept to last year, with a large, roped off premium area on the main straight. Positioning inside this area will be a matter of first come best dressed.

This is the best historic motor racing event in the southern hemisphere and not to be missed for classic & race car enthusiasts! New members are encouraged to attend.

Shannons Walk Benefits:
   A prime location to watch the racing from all weekend
   A genuine opportunity to view the cars, visit the race preparation and pit areas behind the scenes.
   Free entry for car and driver as well as half price entry for all passengers in
      participating cars.
   Secure parking among like minded enthusiasts.

Expo Centre Display:
Again, this year we have been invited to nominate 1 Club car to be displayed in the Expo Centre. Note that although not necessarily at concourse level we would, nevertheless, expect the car to be of a very high standard. The car judged best on display on Sunday will win it's owner 2 free lunches in the VHRR hospitality suite. The display car does not have to be the same Saturday and Sunday so there are some options available to club enthusiasts there.

If you are interested in displaying your concours car at the Expo Centre please contact Martin Sifredi on Mb: 0425-735-814.

The Plan
We anticipate meeting at Smiths Beach about 3 minutes from the track at 8.45 am sharp and drive in as a group to the Phillip Island raceway so the club enters together as per event management request.

Bookings
Book now as this is absolutely essential for this event for Saturday or and Sunday as tickets are limited. Please specify if one day or both days !

Please provide name, member number and contact details.

Thanks John and duly noted!

We still need some Alfa's to come down to the PI Historics and have spots for both Saturday or Sunday. Is such a great weekend of racing and hstoric cars.

Plan will be to meet at the Smiths Beach shops. Smiths Beach is on the Phillip Island Back Beach Road near the race track. Turn left into Smiths Beach Rd and the shops are a few hundred metres down on the left.

Given feedback, believe we should depart at 8.30am sharp so please arrive beforehand as cannot wait for stragglers!

Thanks
Paul

Hello Paul ,
Paul Klisaris is looking at bringing his concours spider on saturday. Let me know
If there is enough room to show it next to Gary's car inside . Otherwise
A space outside will be fine .

"One of the best Motor Sport events in Australia", according to 'In Pit Lane', host Brett Ramsey, from Community Television channel 31, they have the Heritage Touring Cars, that are the original Group C, 'Big Bangers' and Group A, they are the actual cars themselves, not replicars like the Touring Car Masters, some of the Original drivers will be driving them as well, such as Skaife and Richards, Colin.

And Bill Magoffin driving the Group c 105 2 litre in that race
You wont miss it,,cause you will hear it,and it still has the original Bob Holden war paint from previous races.
Wish i was there, but Classic Rally commitments, driveing my 105 2 litre for 2500 kms prevent me from being there.

We are building up the numbers - book now if you want to go as it is a ripper of a day - or weekend for that matter.

Refer first post on this thread and contact Paul.

Thanks

Hi Paul,
Last minute change in my transport arrangements means that I will be driving my 147 GTA to the Island (rather than the family wagon).
I would love to travel in convoy with the troupes at Smiths Beach and park in the Shannons Walk area if there are any remaining spots??
I will only be going on the Saturday and currently have a ticket.
