I noticed cracked plenum hose rubbers so whipped it off and got some new ones from EB Spares in the UK. Very prompt. So while I was at it thought I would get the injectors cleaned. Trouble is they are now confirmed as leaking to varying degrees from constantly to a bit. The whole reason foe the exercise was trying to sort out why car is running like a hairy goat, so might not be the cause but certainly won't help.
Anyway question for the day is, where has anyone found a reasonable source of good quality new injectors? How much?
Had my existing refurbed by hiperforeancestore.com in the USA. Greg does good by the wider Alfa community and they did well by me. No idea where you might get new, got the impression from Greg that they are pretty much nla but could be wrong.
I suppose other question is that you can get VL Commodore ones easy enough. They look to be the same thing, has anyone been brave enough to try?
The fuel pump is also the same as VL, if ur thronging of refurb I have some from a 2.5 you could use
so the injectors are the same size and mounting? It has a Haltech so if the flowrate is not quite right it can be tuned. More looking at finding something to go into the hole. i was hoping for new ones as second hand old ones seem to keep developing leaks. If i can tap into Holden parts then it becomes that much easier and cheaper.
It does all sort of look the same on the earlier cars, but the devil is always in the detail.
Hi Flynn
you have an Alfetta GTV6 with Haltec, right? If so, you can't use Commodore injectors, they have different inlets, ALFA ones have a barb and short hose. In Melbourne we have ALFA specialists who refurbish old injectors. They change the particle screen, external seals, hose, and pintal, but they'll first check spray pattern. Here they charge between $30 to $40 per injector. I suggest you find out who can do this in Brissy, you can do this through your ALFA club. If you have more than 6 injectors they will use the best 6. I did this in Melb with no problems.
Cheers
John
Flynn,
Come along to the club meeting tonight and ask Richard Anderson? Also means you get to see some in-car from his 75 in Silver Fern rally....
I've just had a look through some notes I made a few years ago when doing some reading. I've recorded the Alfa V6 injectors as flowing 180cc at 36.5psi (for L-Jetronic). The VL 6 cylinder (RB30) injectors flow 200cc at 43psi which equates to 184cc at 36.5psi. VL injectors are also barbed on the inlet like the Alfa L-Jetronic ones.
Cheers,
Scott
Flynn,
I stand to be corrected. I was thinking of a 3.8v6. I suppose if you'r running a Haltec it wouldn't matter if injectors are low impedance or high impedance, just as long they fit in place.
John
To finish off this thread. I bought a set of standard VL Commodore injectors. After trimming the inlet hose to length, they go straight in. Car starts and runs just fine. They are listed as the replacement now in some catalogues, and relatively cheap and easy to come by. The spec sheets I found list the VL injectors as having identical flow rate to the original Alfa ones.
Sounds good. Is the impedance the same?
Yes low impedance. 2.3-2.4 Ohm
Where did you get the VL injectors from? The prices I have seen have been comparable to the stage 1 injectors from hiperformancestore.com including shipping.
Found this guy on Ebay. But rang him direct, very helpful, checked the cross reference for me and confirmed. I had done some homework before hand and I was about 95% cure they were right. Matched originals for flow rate and so on. So it all added up.
Precision Engine Components in Moorabbin.

You need the standard VL ones, the VL Turbo ones give about 27% more flow from my research. Good if you have a really hot engine and computer to run it. Otherwise standard VL Commodore. So I bought them, cut inlet pipe to length and straight in. Beautiful to use good new parts.
