Please accept Bruce and my heart felt thanks for all those that put in a lot of effort to recover me and the smashed car from the Winton track on Sunday.
Also very much appreciate the medico and AROCA event staffs attentiveness on the day.
My apologies to my fellow competitors for the delay I caused.
Apart from some all over body soreness I am uninjured due to the tyre wall and the race seat/harness.
Car is beyond repair.
Thank you to those who posted photos and video of the crash.
It appears that the alloy wheel has failed. The wheel was purchased new about three years ago and has done maybe 10 sprints.
Unusual me thinks.
Regards Justin.
:(
Hello Justin,
I feel for you mate, the main thing is you didn't get hurt. Hope to see you on track again with a new car soon :)
I was wondering if it might be an idea to share what brand of wheels you were using so other that might be using the same wheel brand should consider having them inspected .
this really goes for any wheel on the market , and ends up stemming into all the other components , if aftermarket , such as brake caliper adaptors , or suspension link points .
No worries on the delay - I think we were all just glad that you were ok!
Saw Marissa's pic of the wheel separating - scary stuff.
Hey Justin,
As others have said, no stress on the delay to the day, I don't think anyone was bothered by it, we were all just glad you weren't injured. It was a very big crash for an AROCA sprint, and i think it gave everyone a bit of a reminder of just how easily and quickly things can turn to shit on a track.
I have no doubt we will be out there battling again very soon.
:)
-Mick.
I agree with Mick, nobody sets out to have a crash, full points to the recovery team and the alfa officials, but most importantly Justin you walked away, stained jocks but ok
I took special care around the esses after that one. Good to hear you are ok Justin.
