Title: Alfa 75 Brake fluid reservoir
Post by: Evan Bottcher on January 28, 2013, 12:33:59 PM
The brake fluid bottle on our 75 Twinspark leaks from the rubber gasket around the fluid level switch, dripping fluid on the headers whenever I go around corners quickly (read: as often as possible).  Do they all do that?  Can I get a new gasket, a new bottle, or should I make a visit to Milanos or Monza and collect a good second hand one?

Note: cable tie was an attempt to make a better seal...

Looks like the same kind of [leaking] seal as in my 33 Evan, it looks like a special seal, that wouldn't be available from a brake or seal specialist, i wonder if a brake master cylinder repair kit would have the seal included in the kit?, 33's and 75's are getting so old that it may be worth putting a repair kit through them, Colin.

Hi Evan,
Did you find a solution to your leaky brake fluid bottle? Mine leaks from the very same spot as you mention and was wandering what was your solution in the end? Regards Domenic

Mine too a little, seems like a common occurrence.

::) Um no, haven't made any progress.

In April we went on a big bush bash around NSW, and the car's come back with a further list of ailments.  Exhaust is holier than the holiest, clutch release bearing is whining, and the brake master is leaking now.  The leak seems to be back past the rear seal, then dripping down the booster to burn off on the exhaust.  So the weeping from the brake fluid bottle has fallen down the priority list.

Poor neglected car is still getting humped to work every day, and my enthusiasm for fixing things in this cold is low...

Try putting a suitable cable tie or 2 around the reservoir and brake master to clamp it down a bit
Might work= usually does
