Saw this on the WorldCarFans website. I must say it looks the goods with 19" wheels and lowered suspension. Hopefully it behaves as good as it looks. Anyone know if it will make its way to Australia? The 156 TI wasn't anywhere nearly as enhanced by comparison.

Hi all,

Alfa Romeo GM David Stone has advised that the 159TI will be available in Australia from September 2007 onwards in limited numbers.

Cheers

It's officially on sale now in Australia. Curiously the diesel 159 has missed the TI treatment in our market, but is available overseas.

We have only 110 159 Ti coming (Aus wide) only in petrol engine's 80% 2.2 and 20% V6 . Most of the cars will be Selespeed in the 2.2 and Autos in the v6, and a hand full in manuals in both,  :D :D

Patrick, have Alfa seen an increase in sales or shift in buying preference since the 159 autos were made available? Still doesn't explain why they overlooked the diesel TI given it is also available in auto form?

We have seen a shift with Auto sales , Alfa think that the Ti 159 is aimed  more at the Sports car driver and thats why we have Selespeed and manual cars, This time around the Ti is a limited run only once a year so when we sell out thats it until the next years run, also the car has a lot more extras then the 156 Ti but the down side its at an extra cost $5000 more ,the 156 was the same price.

Alfa should be congratulated with the 159TI and its effort to make it a genuine sporting upgrade in the 159 range with some additional performance hardware included, such as lowered suspension, larger wheels and Brembo brakes on the 2.2L cars. In reality the 156TI was a cosmetic upgrade only with different style alloys on the same 17" diameter and some interior upgrades only.
