Chris,
they are cracked. It doesn't say anything on the ad, bloody bastard.
I have a set of momo star wheels and one is cracked like yours, the  problem being that not many
people will weld them because they say it is not RWC. You may have to shop around to find someone that can weld.

That's bloody bad luck Storm_X, they're nice wheels too.  Was the crack under a sticker or is that just where you've cleaned it?

Have you been in contact with the vendor to explain the problem?  I would try that as a first option, he might be good about it.  Thanks for the heads up anyway, I see he still has some things for sale on here, surely a case of buyer beware from now on.

There are specialist firms that will repair that, it needs a proper process, but it's not all that involved. If you have no luck, it's worth the money to keep a set of good rims.
If done correctly, a welded aluminium rim will be as strong as before and invisible.

Regards, Andrew.

There could of been the possibility that the seller was un-aware of the crack, though if i am selling something i would check it over from top to bottom! This person should of done the same.

Also i would be aware of that user name - '33 4x4'... anything from one of those cars is bound to be broken! ;)

I dont know if any of you seen but a guy bought alfa 33 side skirts from him and they where also fked and he posted picture and pretty much told everyone to steer clear from him etc etc, the post is gone now 33 4x4 prob deleted it. If the guy that bought the stuffed side skits is out there let me know.

Oh i have been in contact with the vender and his father witch who owns the paypal account and im trying to be the most cililized and mature i can and all i get back is abbuse mainly over i payed for the wheels to be wraped for postage but they came bare and i want my wraping money back, witch they claim they refunded but my paypal has no recall.

I wasnt even going to complain or anything like that but just every reply i get back from them just gets me more pissed off.

that is bad luck, i know how you feel,
i bought a set of 5 gtv6 alloys and a set of 4 "simmons" from ebay.
when they arrived the alloys were fine but the "simmons" were compomotive race wheels with simmons caps.
luckly the bloke was a good guy and refunded half the money!
i guess thats always the issue with buying sight unseen. but i should have been more aware!
cheers, brad

Hi guys,

it is shame when people can't be honest !  But any way no use in getting mad over it .  either get in touch with the guy who you purchased the wheels off and sort it out or you can give the guys a ring at Advanced Alloys, they are one of the best in Melbourne . I have dealt with the guys there , they do great work.

here is the link

hope this helps you,

To be honest i was a little upset i wasnt told but i can fix with the ally welder, i spray 2pac paint all day as a job so i was going to restore the wheels. But yes just watch out when buying stuff they might not tell you everything.

Im just getting angry as i sent $20 for the wheels to get wraped but paypal glitched and sent two lots of $20, o i asked for the 2nd $20 back.
then i got the wheels and they where not wraped so i want my 1st $20 back and then he said he tried to send me back the 2nd $20 when i asked weeks before, but he just sent me a picture of the  two payments and the 1st payment went through all good as they where to wrap the wheels and the 2nd it says payment freezed but noe ready to be spent, then he tried to refund the 2nd $20 but the status is cancelled so i never received it.

sorry if i dont make sence of if i have repeated myself.

Ive seen that username on other forums also, and apart from his prices being in my opinion a little optimistic, i think that it somewhat ruins it for the rest of us when we try to sell things. It just makes it harder. My view on the whole thing....as if he didnt see the crack, come on! I want to be first in the line to ask the forum to ban the guy. The fact that he is nowhere to be seen, and looks to me only here to sell things, tells me he is not worth having around, especially if he wants to rip people off. Am i correct?

What else are we waiting for, someone to buy one of his engines, get the thing fitted up, and him saying," oh sorry i didnt see that gaping hole in the side of the block, it wasnt there before shipping, it mustve fell".

david sammartino

oh ye, and forget about welding it, not even an option, start smoking heavily , turn the wheel upside down, and consider your new wheel a gigantic ashtray.

I notice this seller's for-sale posts are locked too (I assume by the seller), so anyone who has bought something can't complain on the forum.  The posts then get unlocked & begging messages added (like "c'mon guys"), and then re-locked.  Doesn't seem very fair.  I was interested in some 164 bits but after reading about the side skirts I've steered clear.

Just an up-date, i got the tyres striped off the rims today and its not looking good.

The wheel with the crack looks pretty bad and one other wheel has hit a gutter or a pot hole and has a flat spot witch is fked

I have to get one wheel welded and the other rolled witch might cost a bit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLlauQj3iro

from what i can see the wheel has been heated and bent back into shape, witch for me is a plus as i can get it welded.

If this vendor is not going to take any responsibility, or even acknowledge the problem, then maybe he should be banned from this forum (and we can put out the word on the BB as well).

Can you put up some pics Storm_X?  Let's see the extent of the damage, and then we can take it further.

Frank Musco

Thanks heaps for the heads up Storm_X.

I've been around long enough now to know that the person selling this rim knew it was broken. Seriously! OR his lights are on but nobody's home, you know, where am I, what's my name, why am I here, my head hurts, Oh yeah... is that a crack? Anyone would have an impossible task trying to convince me that when this person was taking the photos of these rims, while moving them around, and washing them,(notice the hose and wet rims to make them look shiny), he did not notice the extremely large area which has been obviously heated to the extreme of burning the paint off. Potentially dangerous. Should be banned unless he took them back and apologised on the forum, technically it's not four rims because one is broken and not "roadworthy"

Obviously NOT an Alfa person.
