Hi guys,

Does anyone know what the actual weight saving would be in kg's by replacing the original glass in rear hatch plus all side glass in a 116 GTV with either 3mm or 4.5mm Lexan material.

I have heard of possibly saving 40-50% weight but I want to know what this weight saving equates to in actual kg's before proceeding. Car is really only for track usage now.

Thanks

While 7kg may not sound much, it's where you are taking it from that matters.....all that glass is up high on the car, you take 7kg away from up there and it not only lowers the centre of gravity of your car (which improves handling) but 7kg X G force etc...you get the picture (hopefully, cos its late and I'm tired)

Gents, keep in mind that if you replace your glass with lexan, it must be the same thickness as the original  glass, But who knows with alfas, whatever they could get at the time, 3mm ?

Wow , the Mexican is a real " brainiac" ,I would have never thought about the "G' force, maybe her "G" spot.

Thanks for the replies guys, I now need to look at how easy it is to replace them as I believe they can be a real pain.
