Hey guys, just bought a 2000 156 ts manual from a non club member. Thought i'll drop by to take a look at the forums.
Anyway was finding a place to service my car, but i don't really know where. any recommendations? i live around Mulgrave.
btw any1 knows if koni or bilsteins shocks are better?? any any springs to recommend? any place to fix them on cheap??
have to change it cos the current ones are really soft and i'm having problems turning even at low speeds.

lol sorry for the bunch of questions but i'm quite at a loss as i've just moved to melb

Welcome.  Congratulations on your purchase. Have a look at the forum threads under 932 Register Series - 156 models.  We have covered this many times but its always important to get the correct information.

Have a look at our club sponsors list (home page on the right) as there is a range of Alfa Romeo specialists who know the cars and how to best service them.  You get good value and good advice.  Also some give a discount to club members.   You will get the info needed for cost replacing springs or benefits of upgrades.

As a matter of interest, a well respectedperson said that the 156 Monza springs with Koni reds/yellow gives the best handling package - but that ultimately depends on what you want and how much you want to said. Of course new is better than used but call Milano Spares. Again check out the sponsors link and make a few calls.  Of course good tyres and 16 inch Monza wheels make a real difference.

Call The Italian Job, Monza Motors, Maranello-Pursang Motors and get the car checked out as I assume that a pre purchase inspection was not done by these guys.  You have not given any pre service details or kms done - the timing belt is a must if overdue (50,000kms or 3 years) and you will get some ideas of what has to be done in the future. As the milage hits certain points, things need checking and replacing. Other wise you have a shit car and it just gets run into the ground.   More importantly too you need the correct engine oil so check out the owners manual.

Post a few pictures when you can.  Let us know how you go and join up and get benefits.

Cheers.
