ASBESTOS?

Just obtained a container load of 164 spares and noticed the (used) exhaust heat shields have the fibrous insulation separating. Didn't think much about it at the time but what are the chances it's asbestos?  

Parts would be 1989 vintage.

Not much action on this forum I came back after a few years hiatus to empty halls.  I replied to your ALFABB forum post with the AI answer that Alfa used it into the late 1990's. You know how to handle asbestos. If the heat shields are broken or damaged I would wet them and bag them. And maybe ring your local council and ask for the best method of disposal.

I also had an asbestos lined heatshield to dispose of. Most councils won't touch it as there are limited disposal sites.

I called the EPA who advised to bag it and put me in touch with a licensed asbestos disposal business who collected it from my home for $200.
