Fuel Injection Conversion - 116 Alfetta 2.0

Hi Team,

I am in the process of securing parts for a turbo conversion to my 1978 Alfetta.

My question is in regards fueling, I am tossing up the idea of going fuel injected.

I know with the Weber carbs you can get the conversion kits for FI.

Has anyone done this with the Dellorto carbs?

Obviously will need a fuel pump, computer etc..

Any advice is appreciated.

The simplest way would be to replace your carbs with a pair of DCOE style throttle bodies, cheap option https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002664670995.html or at the other end of the price range https://compsystems.com.au/index.php/store/intake/throttle-bodies/th-throttle-bodies-dcoe-style-91mm-long/th-dcoe-style-throttle-body-pair
You'll need to make or adapt a plenum if you're going forced induction.

I went a different way with mine and used a single large throttle body in front of a plenum, but using DCOE throttle bodies would save a lot of mucking around making custom fuel rails, modifying inlet manifolds etc.



Another option might be to add injector bungs to your carb inlet manifold. I looked into that when I started planning my conversion ~20 years ago, and recall talking to a workshop that had done it before (injectors were mounted upside down in the bottom of the intake runners, out of sight) and the carbs get stripped, turning them into glorified throttle butterflies.
The cost was prohibitive though.
