Rear Donut Replacement on Alfetta sedan

Hi guys, looking for some info from anyone with 1977 Alfetta sedan knowledge. I'm in the process of replacing the rear donut as per the portions in the photo which had the tripod spacer shown installed. Unfortunately we forgot to look closely at the assembly before disassembly!

Question is does anyone know whether this spacer goes on the engine or gearbox face of the donut.
