My fellow club members,

It's with unbearable sadness that I write to inform you of the passing
of ARCOCA Queensland club member Colin Wenzel.

As outlined in my previous message, Col was severely injured in a
single car crash at Lakeside on Saturday afternoon, whilst competing
in the AROCA-organised Italian Challenge Race Series.

Col passed away last night, with several of his close family members present.

A police and coronial investigation into the crash is underway so, as
I'm sure you will understand, no further detail of the accident will
be publicly discussed at this time.

Col will be warmly remembered as a tremendous bloke and a fierce
competitor by those of us who shared genuine mateship with him at the
track.

A memorial service will be held within the next week and I'll be in
touch as soon as Col's family have finalised the details.

Your sincerely,

Brent Hampstead

Terrible news Brent.

Thoughts are with his family and the rest of the AROCA Qld community. Having been part of it, I know you guys as racers are very close knit, so I'm sure it'll hit hard.

Pass on my condolences for me.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Mitch.

It's a shocking tragedy alright. There's not much to say about it other than that.

Hope life is treating you well mate.

Regards,

Brent

It was a fantastic service Evan. The Lakeside function room was packed to the rafters for the memorial service and the last lap was a wonderful send off for a bloke who'd spent the past 50 years racing cars. Thanks for posting the link.

Cheers, Brent
