Congratulations Rowan,
I have not seen the car but I reckon it must be a real gem.
Enjoy and I trust the trip home goes well.
Peter.

Thanks Peter.  I am looking forward to having another 1.8.

Beatle

Congratulations Rowan.  Did you actually look at the car (it's a long way from QLD)?

Make sure you post up some more pics and an appraisal when you get the chance.

No I didn't look at it but I am hopeful that it has been acurately described.

I know of another one for sale in a southern australian state. Owner is open to offers.

Beatle

So does the owner intend to advertise the car publically?

Here is another,

I personally know this car. I sold him my 2 litre motor and gearbox out of a giulietta i had. The body is really rough though or more precisely extremely rough. 5K is high for a car that requires at least 10 in body work

LOL paul. Its one hell of a drive

Beatle

;D  I've driven it a few times, in both directions, in Alfettas.  It's GREAT drive if you strive to keep the ocean as near as possible to your left (or right) elbow  ;D

But I digress.   Anyone know this car?  http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/alfa%20romeo-alfetta-1982-11705774

I meant to post an update to this a while ago, but work got in the way.  I coolected the car and drove it back to Brisbane over two uneventful days.  It needs a little bit of maintenence type work here and there, but nothing major.  I will post some pics when I have got around to taking some.  For the moment the plan is to pull all the trim out of it, clean and dirt out and rustproof it before its rustfree state is lost!  The purchase of this also means that the 2.0 Giulietta I had purchased as a project with my son has to go.  It will be posted in the forsale section and hopefully we can put the money into this car.

Beatle

Rowan,

Some of the photos here may assist in getting an idea of the innards of an early Alfetta sedan frame. It'll help when applying rustproofing agent.   http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/car-restoration/14822-alfetta-sill-cut.html

I still have the cut sections of the A-pillar, from the roof down to the base of the windscreen if you need more detail.  I kept them for educational purposes  ;D.  Make certain you get the rustproofing into every section of the A-pillar.  Rust anywhere else is pretty easily repaired, but the A pillar is a very complex section and they rust from the inside.
