I cannot get over how the clutch slave cylinder is inside the bell housing :o

Good information there Wankski, about a year ago i bled my brakes, but not the clutch, because i couldn't find the slave cylinder, these internal slave cylinders are becoming common now, even Falcans have them, and race cars are being converted to them, on 156's the twin sparks have a external slave cylinder and the JTS has a internal, if you ever put a new clutch in, replace the internal slave cylinder and is it my imagination, or are the twin spark clutch pedals heavier than a JTS?, Colin.

twin spark and JTS are both internal concentric slaves w/ throw out bearing all in one...

selespeed and v6 have conventional external slave w/ seperate throw out...

i get the engineering principal behind the concentric, but in practice, don't think its worth it at all..

i don't notice the difference in a well bled and functioning 6sp's clutch and the 4s, and the 6s are of course uprated units...

Having a look underneath this 156, ???
Its actually a nightmare to pull out the manual box,I dont have a workshop manual but the cross member looks like it has to be removed with the wishbones.???
Gee I would be nicked off if I had to do all this just for a leaking clutch slave cylinder. >:(

Thats why when you replace the clutch, or do any gearbox work or pull the engine out you always replace the slave cylinder in the gearbox with a brand new one, don't even think about putting in new seals, the results of a leaking slave cylinder is a lot of work, Colin.
