G'day guys,

Just bought a used 2007 2.2 JTS Selespeed, very first Alfa I've had.  Black exterior with red leather interior.  Caused a bit of a stir in the family as they all swear by Mercedes, however I have no complaints on the car.  Ride is harder and more zippy compared to the C200, feels and sounds great.  Looks like a beast.

Anyone give me a rough idea of how much the major service will cost?  I'm guessing that it'll be less than Benz, as the last time I paid nearly $2,200...

Welcome to Alfa Ownership.

Generally speaking only, you have the choice of an Alfa Dealer and an Alfa Specialist Workshop.  Naturally the workshop is cheaper and prices do vary.  I do not know what state you reside in but if in Victoria have a look at our club advertisers list for a few ideas.

Also depends if a major service are say a 10k or 5k one.  I always like to change the oil every 5k that's me.

Other people seem to go to a dealer for a major service (if a new car) and do the in between ones elsewhere. That way you get the system upgrades etc.

As long as they provide the correct quality oil as per the book that is ok.

Great, thanks for the info mate.  Yep I'm in Victoria, Zagame Melbourne is the closest so I'll probably pop by there.

Welcome to the forum Col,

For those who don't know Colin is a long term club member and register captain, knowledgable and always very helpful with advice. I see you've already started answering a few questions on this forum, great stuff.

Cheers, Evan.

I bought the car with 70k on the clock, and I'm at 75k at the moment.  The next service is due in 78k.  Should I take it for a quick check at an alfa mechanic to give the car a once over?  I'm also looking to replace odd items (grill badge, cosmetic covers of the screw holes for the inside door handles, etc) would I be able to do that at any of our particular Victorian club sponsors, or am I better off going to a dealer like Zagame?

Zagames and for that matter are dealers and have service centres to for modern cars so it depends on what you really want.

Our Club advertisers and sponsors would also be suitable to give the car a service, advice and are often used for pre purchase checks.  They also have access to after market parts that may be an option in some circumstances.  Find one convenient for you.

Ring around and make a few enquiries as the dealer network is a bit more expensive but it is all relative.

Cosmetic items would be available and probably cheaper via Alfa Wrecker like Monza Motors, The Italian Job and Milano spares.

Plenty of options available to you.

I've been taking our 06 159 to Maranello Pur Sang in Brunswick - very happy - fair prices, excellent knowledge and nice people. You'll often spot El Presidente there  :)
