Imagine if you could choose one to take for a drive.  But only one.

Any reference to what event/year that was? Makes the mouth water...

I think it might be the 1964 Tour de France, but I can't be certain about that.  Interesting colour for a TZ though, it must be a well-known car.

Simple answer for me, those 250 GTO's in the background sure are making my mouth water!

Great photo. Based on the rego and race number:

1964 Tour de France Auto
Scuderia San'Ambroeus
Giampiero Biscaldi (I) / Edgar Berney (CH)
DNF - Engine
Race number 145
Registration: MI909060
Verde Bottiglia

This Alfa TZ1, Serial # 0003, Engine # 0002 comes with race photos and documentation from the 1964 race season having raced at Le Mans, Nurburgring 1000 Km, Tour de France, Cevennes and The Tour de Corse.

After the 1964 season, this TZ1 as with many race cars was put aside, remaining in Italy for the next 35 years.
It was subsequently discovered in 2002 in pieces having being completely disassembled.
Many original of its parts were with the car and as with its original engine, soon found and reunited with it. Inspected by an FIA representative in Europe several years ago for authentication, it has recently been re-inspected while completely apart for recent restoration by well-known Alfa TZ1 consultant and expert Marnix Dillenius to confirm part by part its originality.
This recent inspection report is available for viewing and should substantiate part by part the originality of this TZ1 as well as note several items not original having been prepared for current vintage racing.

This TZ1 has recently been stripped and completely restored to original Le Mans livery with no expense spared. It is currently fitted with a fresh race motor (the original engine # 0002 in crate, included with car) with only dyno time to run in.
The gearbox and clutch are perfect, the suspension has been completely refurbished as has the braking system. It has two exhaust systems, side mount for unmuffled events as well and rear exiting for muffled events. All work has been performed-carried out by Autosport Designs, Inc.

With exceptional early race history-provenance, recently restored, serviced, sorted and tested, this TZ1 is turn-key ready and eligible for some of the finest vintage automobile events on the calendar worldwide, race or touring.
