Howdy All,

Just joined up on the forum and thought I'd say hello. My name is Paul and I have been an AROCA member (Vic division) since about 1981. I joined the club as soon as I got my license and my first Alfa. Back in the early 80's every young kid wanted a 2 litre Escort....and even though we had a Berlina (auto) I wanted the Ford. At the time we were getting the Berlina serviced at Bennica's and my old man said to Mr Bennica, "Got any cars for Sale that might suit my son?"

So we went around on saturday afternoon and I saw this one owner white 1966 Giulia Super sitting there. Although familiar with Giulia's - they didn't really appeal to an 18 year old lusting for a RS2000 Escort! .... Anyway after one very very "enthusiastic" drive with Joseph Bennica around the back streets of Surrey Hills.....well, who wanted an Escort anymore! ...I was hooked! I think I had my left elbow out the passenger's window and I am sure Joseph took one corner so hard and the car leaned so much that it took off some skin! .........

Have had heaps of cars since (Alfetta, 75, GTV's, Giulias) but my 2 cars at the moment are,

1. My childhood dream car, a GTV2000 1974 in Robinia Mettallica (Ar518)

2. a 1974 Giulia Super 1.3 in a really pale yellow color (not sure of the official name) seems to be a private import from South Africa.

Did a lot of club races in the early days with both but the Giulia was the main one. It runs a warmed up 2litre (built by Hugh Harrison) and lsd etc.
Goes really nice but is unregistered at the moment. Haven't been around the club of late but hope to fix that soon.

Anyway bye for now.

Paul.
