Hey team,

It's almost time for the final Top Gear sprint/race weekend for the year. It's on next weekend at QR. I'll be there both days and I think the Jacksons are racing Sunday. I'm pretty sure KP and Peter Lawrence will be there, as we battle it out to fill the minor placings behind Jacko in Alfacomp 09. It would be great to see you there for our last full tilt hit out for 2009.

Apart from us belting around in the sports car category with the porsches, mx5s etc, the feature of the weekend is the Golden Holden One Hour - a 60 minute enduro between the HQs and Geminis. It is a two driver affair with compulsory pit stop.

Press release below.

Cheers,

Brent

GOLDEN HOLDEN ONE HOUR RACE HEADLINES FINAL TOP GEAR ROUND

Amateur motor racing takes on a new dimension at Queensland Raceways' Ipswich circuit on the weekend of November 14 and 15 when the Top Gear Racing Series hosts the Golden Holden One Hour.
The super-competitive Holden HQs and Geminis will take their thrill a minute brand of racing into the endurance arena, with one hour of adrenaline-charged excitement the guaranteed result.
The Holdens will run two practise sessions during the Saturday Top Gear sprint, followed by a packed Sunday of qualifying, two ten lap races and the grand finale one hour enduro.  The added twist to the Golden Holden One Hour is a compulsory driver change. With pit stops being an extreme rarity for Top Gear racing, fans should prepare for a few anxious moments in pit lane.
With the Golden Holden action taking place on Queensland Raceway's National layout, expect to see the HQs getting away on the long straights, with the Geminis closing the gap under brakes and through the tight corners at turns three, four, five and six.
"I'm really looking forward to this race meeting," enthused HQ Racing Association of Queensland President Ian Mundell. "QR is a great track for both racers and spectators and the competition of the HQs and the Geminis going at it should be fantastic to watch.
"It will certainly test our fitness levels," Mundell continued. "Endurance races of any sort are very rare at this level of motor sport, so it will be a real challenge for us."
Mundell will travel all the way from central Queensland – just west of Rockhampton – for the Top Gear weekend, with other Golden Holden drivers coming from Warwick, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
This final round of the Top Gear Racing Series for 2009 also features four other categories, with sedans, sports cars, racing cars and super karts. Each category includes a variety of makes and models in each class. Sedans include everything from classic Datsun 1600s to brand new Mitsubishi Evo Xs and former V8 Supercars, while the sports car category will feature Porsches, Alfa Romeos and Mazda MX5s among others.
