Hi all,

Here is the media release for QRDC round 4, which included out beloved Festival of Italian Motorsport. Thanks to all from the Fiat and Ferrari clubs for your help and congrats to Richard in the Lancia powered X19 for taking home the chocolates!

On a personal note I am pleased to announce that I managed to steer the car formerly known as the custard tart home in one piece and picked up a shiny silver plate for my third place. Giddy up.

SUPREME CLUB RACING ENTERTAINS AT QUEENSLAND RACEWAY

A crowd of more than 1500 motor racing fans packed the sunshine state's home of motor racing, for round four of the Queensland Racing Drivers' Championship over the weekend.
With qualifying and racing on Saturday and a full day of race action on Sunday there was no shortage of door handle to door handle tussling for the assembled faithful.
The feature of QRDC Round 4 was the Festival Of Italian Motorsport, which comprised of a race category, regularity and show and shine car display.
The racing grid was dominated Alfa Romeos and Fiats, with Fiat X19 driver Richard Shinkfield gathering pace across the weekend's five Italian races and claiming the silverware. Shinkfield's beautifully prepared orange X19, powered by a 2l Lancia engine, stuck like glue through QR's clubman circuit.
Alfa pilots Robert Kilsby (147 GTA) and Brent Hampstead (Guilietta) filled the minor podium spots, after battling all weekend with Greg Murphy (3 litre turbo Alfa 75) and Norm Singleton (Fiat Abarth Spider), who both destroyed gearboxes.
The Mustangs and Camaros of the Australian Trans Am Championship were are clear crowd favourite on the weekend, with hundreds of fans lining the pit wall each time the big bangers took to the track. Ian Woodward in his orange Camaro eventually got the better of fellow Chev driver Grant Wilson with Ross Grimes rounding out a Camaro trifecta.
Other categories making up the bill for round four of the QRDC were Formula Ford, Formula V, Sports & Sedans, the Gemini Challenge and the highly entertaining Improved Production.  The Improved Production boys battled fiercely all weekend with the RX7s of Stephen Thompson and Trent Purcell being split on the podium by Bruce Cook's Escort.
The race action returns to Queensland Raceway on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 with the final Top Gear round for 2009.
