Very broad question here, but any advice at all would be appreciated.

Starter motor in the 75 is dead, so its gotta come out tomorrow. Now, all the pages in the manual i have on removal etc. are missing. So, i assume that i am going to have to pull all the air intake off to get access to it.
Anything else (apart from the battery obviously) need to come off?

Thanks

Thanks for the offer, but i'm pretty confident it won't be a hard fix. I'll let you know if i change my mind though.

All done and fixed. Much easier than i thought it was going to be. Took the air filter assembly off and there was enough room to reach in and work. Not comfortably, but i guess it never is.

Once it was out, pulled it apart and the big plastic gear had shattered. crap everywhere inside. the brushes were also getting pretty sad. Took it to the local auto elec, (the local specialist didn't have any of the bits, apparently all you 105 ratbags pinch them for your cars  ;D), and he replaced the plastic gear thing for us in about 2 and a half minutes. No charge. He worked so quick i thought his hands were going to catch fire. Did the brushes ourselves at home and then re assembled the whole lot.

Would of been running again last night, but i had to get my beer on, so it waited till today.

All in all, about 6 hours labour (would of been well under 3 if i knew what i was doing) and the princely sum of $25 for the bits. Problem solved.
