Yeah the its in the glovebox and the good thing is, it still works with that aftermarket system.

You do get a USB outlet at the back of the system and you get a USB extension cable so you can run that to anywhere you want if you needed another outlet.

Is it relatively easy to DIY install or would it be better to have a lamen like myself engage an autoleccy?

Nah, no autoelectrician needed, there is no wiring work required.

Just get those prongs so you can get the stock unit out, unplug it, then plug in the aftermarket system, push it into place. Whole thing will take you about 10 minutes.

Its all plug and play.

So I just ordered that Xtrons android head unit for the 159 I don't actually have yet (which will arrive first!?)

I was wondering, how did you remove the original stereo? I've seen vids of these special U shaped tools to remove it?

so how did you go?

Great, unit installed with a wireless rear view cam (wireless part is ok, some noise).
I also got the Carlinkit box to support wired/wireless apple carplay. All works well, response for the unit is a little slow (like an older phone) but it is quite cheap and so much better than the circa 2000's blueandme.

I actually managed to remove the original stereo using some bent coat hanger wire. Eventually the $2 removal tools came from China, but haven't tried them.

If you are able to show me in person the operation of the unit (I live north of Eltham) or make a vid of it, so I could decide if I should get the unit myself for my 159, I would appreciate that.

Prepare to be amazed - https://youtu.be/k3oZeOY8WwM
Video quality is a bit ropey I had to use my daughters ipad so I could run carplay on my iphone..

The Xtrons unit I installed seems to be superseded, the screen got smaller but pretty similar otherwise:-

and I also have the carlinkit box for Apple Carplay though sounds like that might not be needed for the new unit above:-

Thanks for that!

You have the wrong link, which shows the one with the CD slot.  This is the right one:
