Hello good people
I have embarked on the journey to find out why my fan relay is not working.
I found that the pink trigger wire had no power when I bought the car
Someone had connected it to the coil positive.
I have traced the wire back in the boot to the 2 relays near the battery.
Found a melted 30amp fuse and a relay with a 20amp fuse in it.
Has anyone got a photo of the correct relays in a qv164 for my reference.
Cheers

Today trace the offending wire to the
Boot where I found a bird nets of wires
Left over from the Qv electrity shock
Some one was very happy with the side cutters lol

So I put all the wires into a plastic bag and tapped
It up so water and dust can't get in .
The relay next to the battery with a 20A fuse
Powers my rad fan and runs to the pink wire .

I not shore what other things it powers ?
So just at the moment I have removed the (old shocks) relay
And replaced it with just a 25A fuse and it all seems to work
Time will tell
Cheers

Do you know the fan motor wattage? If it's a single fan only, I'd expect it to be a good 250-300W.

So with 10% safety in your fusing and rounding up, you'd be at 25A for a 250W fan or 30A for a 300W unit.

Wow thanks mate I did not know that I will
Have to check. I know its a Daves Craig 18"

I can only find a listing for the Thermatics up to 16 inch, and that one sucks 19A at the motor (so you'd still use a 25A fuse).

Have experienced a lot of grief from rewiring, it seems many sparkies don't go back to first principles or care about overall neatness.

"Have experienced a lot of grief from rewiring "
Yes I have had me fair share. That I always spend a bit more time
Making shore it all neat and tidy and well taped
I have found so most of the time with in electronic problems
It a + wire that has rubbed though and touching earth.

Thanks for the help mate cheers Shane

Good morning
I have a question: I have tracked the Brown wire of
The radiator temp switch (my'n is 76c)back
To the switch on the receiver dryer so
If I have no gas in the A/C system would the
Switch ground out ?
Have a nice day

Many AC systems of this era had simple influence on the radiator fan.

If you turned the AC on, it would activate the low fan speed if the fan wasn't already running.
If the gas pressure got too high, it would turn the fan(s) to high speed.

There is unlikely to be anything really weird about the 164 fans and climate control, sometimes there will be included in the circuit an odd function or wiring configuration but when you examine carefully, you realise it's been included to aid diagnosis of faults.

Have you seen the AlfaBB thread about the American 164 cooling fan schematics?

Thank you for your answer it is very straight forward
I have found this alfabb to hard to understand because
Of all the differing opinions and configurations of wiring
Eg: two speed switch's,Left hand drive,24v etc
I like the K.i.s.s principal lol

So I just go and help up some customers
When I said the K.i.s.s I think that one or few

Thanks
