hey gents, time to replace center muffler on my 85 gtv6 its the original alfa but stuffed inside and making all sorts of klunking noises  so asked a muffler specialist, and got quoted 455.00 fitted for the original type, provided they can still get them, after a few minutes with the defibrillator on my chest, i asked if there was anything after market and a little cheaper, "yes there is and that will cost u 300.00 fitted" f....me!! do these figures sound right people, and will after market affect performance/sound? again any advise would be very helpfull.

I paid about $300 for original exhaust system for my 105 excluding headers, just had to fit it myself...

Took a little work to get it in but have had no issues..

Try Rob Panetta at Manning Motors. He should be able to help, if he isn't he will point you in the right direction.

Exhaust was from a Milano Spares, Thomastown 9462 2138.

it was NOS, and going back a couple of years.

Figure sounds about right for a standard GTV6 centre muffler, they are pretty hard to get these days.  Be careful with aftermarket, if they are just getting a generic muffler and welding it in, you see some shocking jobs done in this situation.  However you may be able to get reproduction ones which just bolt on, which would be fine.  Or you could ring a few Alfa wreckers, and see if they have a secondhand one in good nick.

thanx for the info guys will check all avenues, again im not fussed about performance, as these days im back on my provisional again due to all my 7to 9ks over accumulated points and thats been going on for the past 25yrs!. but the sound is now more important thats what i dont want to loose!
