Hi falconzappa.
Don't know if this helps regarding Gearbox, but I have attached links to Wikipedia detailing characteristics of the F40 gearbox. My understanding is the gearbox is designed and built in Germany for a range of vehicles including the 159. In 2007 a new version of the F40 was introduced built for the American market which had different gear ratios and detent systems.

The M32 6 speed gearbox was fitted to the Opel cars and very much doubt they were fitted to Alfa Romeo 159.

The M32 is fitted to lots of Opels, Saabs and Alfa 159s -- unfortunately.  All 1750 manuals are M32s.  Check out alfaowner for plenty of M32 tales of woe. :-[
