Koni inserts for sud

Ive scored a pair of brand new koni inserts for sud. But... Now i read there were different struts between early and late suds. Does anyone know the koni part numbers and are they different? If they are different anyone interested in early sud koni inserts? Thanks

Part number is 82z1866. Havent paid for them so can cancel, be a shame if they didnt fit. Koni website doesnt have them listed.

From a parts list of Koni shocks I downloaded in 2002, the part number 86-1866Sport is for the front of the Sud 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 super, Ti, Sprint Veloce (73 - 82) and Sud Giardinetta Estate (75 - 82)

Thanks Scott. Ill have to give them a miss. They were real cheap for brand new konis. Good for someone with an earlier sud. I think modification would be possible, i read someone had done it by interchanging top plates and putting a little bit of allumium around inserts to fill 2mm difference. But im not cutting up my sttuts without being 100% sure.

I did come across a source of koni reds for a series 3 last year. Koni yellows are the sports and koni reds the standard model. Both are adjustable. Any interest?

Yes, i like the idea of putting in shocks that can be refurbished in the future. Are they still available? Pm me if you like. It would very much depend on price.

I tried to get my Koni Dampers reconditioned in Melbourne by the Koni agent, but they said parts were no longer available as were new dampers were no longer supplied.... thats one of the reasons you buy Koni's, is that you can get them refurbished, in the olden days, they said they could supply all Koni parts back to the year dot, but not anymore.
Ended up getting them reconditioned by one of the last remaining shock absorbers reconditioners in Queensland, they said, parts will not be a problem as they are Queensland Koni distributors, it took them a week to turn them around and they have been on the car now for a few month's and they are good, ...always get a second opinion, Colin.

wwwshockabsorberrepairs is the name of the place in Queensland that repaired my Koni shock absorbers, i put a post on the forum about it a few months ago, Colin.

Thanks Col, i had read that one. Good to know that they'll do it still if we look around. 900 odd thousand suds were made. Id like to think theres a few more piles of spares hanging around tht will slowly come out. Ive found a guy in Orange who sells sud parts at very reasonable prices and has helped me out with most of my plastic pieces.

Think one of the old Top Performance guys is doing Koni servicing. Parts should not be hard to find if you look in UK/ Europe.

Seeing the historic race cars at PI last weekend and many are running Koni's including Can-Am cars as per the rules!

Good luck with the search and try Milano etc for s/h struts as many cars ran Koni's.

As stated before the SPICA shocks were such rubbish, Alfa Romeo replaced the factory shocks with Koni's, but i was surprised when the Melbourne Koni agent doesn't service them or sell new inserts for 33's, so i was lucky i found the Queensland wwwshockabsorberrepairs.
The problem is with buying parts out of the UK and Europe is freight.
I did a search of the wreckers about 5 years ago and came up with a series two 33 strut, which would have worked with spacers and adaptors made up.
There may have been over one million 33's made over 12 years, but how many do you see on the road, except some old bloke driving between Rossana and Kilsyth every day?
The series 3 Suds ran Koni's, as did the series one 33's and series two 33's, but they were all different, but looked similar.
Someone needs to put a rocket up the Koni dealer in Melbourne, as feight to Queensland can be expensive, Colin.

I did not know that Konis ever came standard. Ill go have a good look at mine.
