Did everyone read the review of the 159 in the Wednesday Drive?  I thought it was a pretty good rap.  In particular I'm impressed with the pricing:

Alfa Romeo 159 JTS 2.2 litre 136 kW Manual $49,990*
Alfa Romeo 159 JTD 2.4 litre 147 kW Manual $55,990*
Alfa Romeo 159 V6 AWD 3.2 litre 191 kW Manual $74,990*

Remembering that in 1999 the twin spark 156 was $49,990 with cloth seats and steel wheels...

QuoteThe arrival in Australia this week of the new Alfa Romeo 159 is a turning point for the Italian marque. Replacing the 156, (which is smaller than its main rivals) the 159 is grown up - and out - and is finally a genuine contender for Alfa in the prestige sedan market. The 159 is also the first model in a major overhaul of the current line-up. To Alfa Romeo, this car is more than a BMW, Mercedes and Audi rival, it represents the future of the company.
