Went to a Dyno Day once with my 147 Twin Spark. Guess what? It was putting out more horsepower stock standard than another car which had been chipped and modded. Looks like the factory did know what they were doing after all. :o

And all the hundreds of Engineers at Fiat - Alfa Romeo with years of experience commisioning power trains for reliability, low fuel consumption and complying with emmision requirments, don't know as much as some backyarder flogging these chips on ebay.
There is usually a very good reason it was done like that in the first place.
Also a car that has been changed from standard doesn't comply with ADR's, so its not legal, so if insurance companies find out after rear ending a Roller, they may not pay out, Colin.
