Title: New Alfa Owner
Post by: abyssus on July 01, 2012, 06:00:12 PM
Hi there,

Picked up a second hand 2001 156 Selespeed Sedan with some help of some local mechanic friends and the good people here on this forum http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=9070.msg56711

We're picking up a set of new tires and handing in the roadworthy cert tomorrow.

Will hopefully have the OBD cable in 2-4 weeks ($20 from UK on ebay)

Its taken about a week to get used to the selespeed, but starting to enjoy it.

Hi Abyssus, welcome to Alfa Romeo ownership, as you most likely know the 156 was Alfa Romeo's big comeback car in Australia, after the previous Alfa Romeo Australia, buggered off and left us in the lurch, so the 156 had to be good and was, stunning styling by Walter DE Silva and Euro car of the year, the 156 reignited Australia's love with Alfa's, if not already, join your state division of the Alfa Club and get involved with all things Alfa, keep the oil level up on the twin spark, as they like a drink, 10-40 fully synthetic racing oil of your favourite oil company, change the cam belt every 3 year or 50,000, and get the Selespeed checked and recalibarated every year to keep any problems at bay, i hope you enjoy it, Colin.
