Title: Winton 4 March Pictures and Video
Post by: Neil Choi on March 04, 2012, 11:07:37 PM
For those who thought it was too wet to run or whatever excuse, suffer in your jocks!!!!

A practise and 6 runs, over 60 laps were had by some.  Another successful day at Winton.

Here are some pictures with brilliant sunshine and some reasonably quick times.

Looks like it dried up reasonably well after yesterdays monsoon conditions!

The weather was perfect by Sunday afternoon. Track stayed good right 'til the end. This is a clip of the last few laps of the day...

Hi, great work on running the day on sunday, as usual....

I uploaded a couple of videos from the weekend. This video is the first session on R specs. Managed a 1:08.8 straight up. It is fun doing the short track when you don't have big power. I am following cookie in the video, he set the fastest time in that session. Has data overlayed too...

Sandown will not suit the car at all, so not looking forward to that as much.

Edit- My car is a 1991 mx5 with standard 2001 running gear from a smashed car. It has extractors, exhaust, coilovers, front swaybar, R specs, c.f roof, wing, and no a/c, p/s, or heater. It is running standard inlet-airbox and paper filter, and full interior.

Good stuff lighty , very quick & smooth. Just as a matter of interest , is that your phone taped to the steeering wheel.?? If so what app are you using to get the data overlay

Yes, it is an old nokia, also has a gps transponder above the guage pod on the dash.. Brendan that races with us in the black 211 mx5 does all the data overlay. I wouldn't have a clue.

Lighty , I had seen that in Brendan's  old blue car, thats what made me ask. Clever technology, must try and get an "explanation for dumbies" from Brendan.

The data logger only cost like $50 or $100. I can give you his email if you want. But it is not for everyone, as you have to know how to overlay the data onto the video. You could just get the data and look at it on the phone easily. He said there is a new app for iphone now.
